With August set to come to a close, the next month of free games on PlayStation Plus is set to begin. Sony revealed September’s lineup in a post on the PlayStation Blog Wednesday. Undoubtedly the biggest draw will be “Destiny 2,” one of the best selling games of 2017, which also happens to have a massive new expansion pack launching next week.
According to Sony, PlayStation Plus subscribers can actually download and play “Destiny 2” for free right now, instead of needing to wait for September to start. The science fiction shooter emphasizes cooperative play with friends and attempts to keep players hooked with a steady feed of new gear and weapons.
It was also one of 2017’s top sellers, meaning publisher Activision might be able to afford giving it away for free for a month. It should be noted that this is only the base version of the game, without the litany of additional content that has been released in the past year. In order to stay up to date with “Destiny 2,” anyone who downloads it for free is looking at a minimum of $60 to get everything, including the imminent “Forsaken” expansion pack.

Aside from that, subscribers can download the remastered version of “God of War III” for free. The ultra-violent god-killing simulator first came out on PlayStation 3 in 2010, but this version features some visual enhancements. It is not the critically acclaimed sequel from earlier this year, but it might be the next best thing.
PlayStation Plus still offers free PS3 and Vita handheld games each month, too. The PS3 gets the classic adventure game “Another World” and the first-person puzzle game “QUBE.” The Vita, meanwhile, gets the brawler “Foul Play” and the puzzle game “Sparkle 2.”
All of those PS3 and Vita games are also technically free on PS4 in September.
There are only a few days left to get the free PlayStation Plus games from August before they cost money again. PlayStation Plus is required to play PS4 games online and costs $60 per year.
