Israeli President Shimon Peres has warned that an attack on Iran is becoming more and more likely.
The possibility of a military attack against Iran is now closer to being applied than the application of a diplomatic option, Peres told the Israel Hayom daily.
We must stay calm and resist pressure so that we can consider every alternative, he added. I don't think that any decision has already been made, but there is an impression that Iran is getting closer to nuclear weapons.
Last week, the Haaretz newspaper reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barak were seeking cabinet support for a strike on Iran. Also Haaretz reported that a poll on Thursday had found that Israeli public opinion was divided on a strike, with 41% in favour, 39% opposed and 20% undecided.
The recent threats of the Zionist regime against Iran are more for internal consumption and their masters who are struggling with the Wall Street movement, said Ayatollah Mahmoud Alavi a senior Iranian cleric.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is scheduled to release its report on Iran's nuclear activity later this week. Israel considers the issue an existential threat, owing to numerous statements by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other leaders calling for destruction of the Jewish State.
